Who is this course for?

This course is designed for sailors with some prior sailing experience who are looking to take the next step and charter their own catamaran. Whether you’ve sailed monohulls or have limited catamaran experience, this course will provide you with the specific skills and knowledge needed to safely and confidently operate a catamaran on your next bareboat charter.

What will you learn?

Over two exciting days, you’ll gain hands-on experience in:

  • Catamaran Fundamentals: Understanding the unique characteristics and handling of catamarans, including their responsiveness, stability, and shallow draft capabilities.
  • Sail Handling: Mastering sail trim, reefing, and tacking techniques specific to catamarans.
  • Docking and Mooring: Confidently maneuvering in tight spaces, including docking, mooring, and anchoring techniques.
  • Navigation and Chart Plotting: Planning your route, understanding navigational aids, and using electronic charting tools.
  • Safety Procedures: Implementing essential safety protocols, including emergency procedures, man overboard drills, and equipment familiarization.
  • Systems Management: Understanding and operating onboard systems, including engines, electrical systems, water systems, and heads.
